How to Create a Beach Theme for Your Wedding

Beach weddings are very popular these days. Sadly, travelling to a foreign country with your nearest and dearest to say your vows on a tropical beach is not exactly a cheap wedding and a lot of cash strapped couples simply can’t afford to do it. But if this is you, don’t worry because it is possible to create a beach wedding vibe for a fraction of the cost. Here are a few beach wedding ideas to help you find inspiration.
A beach wedding theme is more suited to summer than winter. For obvious reasons it is difficult to conjure up a romantic beach setting when the temperature is ten below zero and everyone is wrapped up in several layers of thermal underwear. For this reason, if you want your wedding to have a beach theme, try and plan it for the summer.
Seashell Bridal Bouquets
Traditional flowers are always beautiful, but one way of adding tying in floral bouquets for the bride and bridesmaids is to incorporate shells into the design. There are many ways to do this, but large shells woven in amongst pale pink, cream and white flowers will look beautiful. You can also scatter shells on tables as part of the decorative theme.
Little Mermaid Wedding Dress
A fishtail wedding dress would be perfect for a beach themed wedding. Wear with cute summer sandals, a shell necklace and garlands of flowers in your hair to complete the look. You can buy the most beautiful wedding dress on Azazie a cheap price.
Beach Inspired Decorations
Sprinkling sand everywhere might not go down too well with the owners of the venue if you have booked your reception there, but it is easy enough to add a seaside theme to a room with a few beach inspired accessories.
• Netting can be strung up around the room and threaded through with shells, pieces of driftwood and even seaweed.
• Use seaside emblems as a motif in your decorations – starfish, shells or boats are all good choices.
• Use coloured shells to create shell garlands and hang these around the room.
• Use clean shells as place markers – write guests’ names on the inside of each shell with black marker pen.
• Place tea lights inside candles and put them on the tables
• Fold up menus and pop them inside empty bottles as a ‘message in a bottle’
Tropical Food and Drink
There are plenty of ways you can continue your beach wedding theme into the food and drink. Tropical cocktails are bound to go down very well – rum cocktails being highly evocative of a seaside setting. You could also serve up jugs of sangria. With regard to food, seafood is an obvious choice, but BBQ food is another fine option as it has strong connotations with al fresco beach dining (hopefully minus the sand element).
Beach Theme Wedding Cake
A shell-shaped wedding cake decorated with pretty shells and sea creatures will make a fabulous centrepiece for a beach themed wedding reception.
A beach theme wedding is very easy to pull off with a few well-chosen accessories, but if you live near the seaside, why not have your wedding party on a secluded stretch of beach? It might not he Bali or Jamaica, but it will still be fun!
